As a Sydneysider it’s hard to imagine the bushfires that have so devastatingly swept through rural Victoria until someone forwards you an image such as the one displayed above (reference: Wikipedia). The image depicts the smoke plume as it makes its way from Victoria, across the Tasman, to the South Island of New Zealand.

Over the last couple of years we have seen the introduction and rise of a security device against unwanted spam called CAPTCHA. As I am sure many of you are aware, this device simply allows websites, blogs & forums to protect their integrity against SPAMBOTS by requiring human visual authentication via the entry of a warped image code as verification before the message sends. Online banner ads allow the advertiser to engage the consumer via targeted call to action promotional offers. Selecting fewer, power words can really make the difference in the number of people who will actually click-through on your ad. Remember, online banner ads are all about clicks so tag lines such as “Save money, click here” are perfectly placed in this space. Enticing a click will often mean promoting something of benefit to the end-user so don’t be shy to go with the hard sell, Free, Special, Win Now are all great words of enticement! (more…)
